Board Workshop Prudently, the Board of Commissioners is keeping the pulse of the advancements and needs of our community. The 2004 survey commissioned by the Board, among other activities, demonstrate their vision, desire, and interest in sensibly moving forward with what some consider the next generation utility. The following link is a visioning document recently completed in conjunction with the Board and staff. CNS Business Plan Visioning Document (Link) Business Planning Business Planning is an essential element for success. The District retained a consultant in 1999 to recommend strategies for realizing fiscal and community assets from the fiber optic system strung upon the newly constructed transmission system from Box Canyon to Newport. More recently, working with Pend Oreille County and the Tri County Economic Development District, a Broadband Plan was developed by Zero dB (http://www.zerodb.net/) that ultimately yielded a cost model for comparing fiber technologies. Exercising the requisite due diligence to explore all avenues of technology for a rural community, the District is preparing to work internally and with consultants to develop a business strategy for further direction with broadband in Pend Oreille County.
